I caught up this week with a professor who asked me to join him in teaching in the Entrepreneurial Studies program at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School years back. As we caught up on each of our summer and fall activities thus far, he commented “You lead an interesting life - it would be fun to spend a week in your shadow.” I respect this entrepreneur-turned-professor a great deal. We have gotten to know each other well over the years. I immediately told him, “I’m trying hard to be interested not interesting.”
He replied that he thought 'if you are interested you will become more interesting as a person'. I agree that 'being interested precedes being interesting'.
